April — Spring Casting in the Western Basin
April marks the start of the True North Lake Erie charter season. Walleye are finishing their spawning cycle and remain concentrated in the Western Basin near Sandusky, OH and the reef complexes.
This is one of the most exciting times of year because fish are:

Relatively shallow
Often grouped tightly for spawning
Very catchable using casting techniques

May — Transition to Trolling Patterns
As water temperatures begin to rise, walleye start spreading out from spawning areas and begin moving east. This is a transitional month where we often combine techniques.

Fish are feeding heavily to recover from the spawn, and limits can come quickly when conditions line up.

By June, walleye have established more stable feeding patterns. Fish are commonly found offshore in deeper water, and trolling becomes the dominant technique.

Some of the heaviest fish of the season
This is a favorite month among experienced anglers who appreciate both quality and consistency.
October — Fall Trophy Potential
Fall on Lake Erie can offer some of the best opportunities for trophy-class walleye. Fish are feeding aggressively and may move shallower again depending on weather patterns and bait location. Shad often become the dominant bait fish for walleye due to their high fat content.
Fishing strategies can include:
Precision trolling
Targeted casting
Early morning and night are primetime
Adjusting quickly to changing lake conditions
